A PhD Fellowship is available in carbohydrate chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark (DTU Chemistry). The project is a collaboration between DTU and University of Copenhagen as well as academic and industrial partners in Denmark and abroad. The purpose of the project is to prepare and study oligosaccharides related to plant cell wall polysaccharides. The target molecules will be used in characterization and optimization of enzymes relevant for degradation of plant polysaccharides. The position will be available from October 1st, 2013 and will be supervised by Associate Professor Mads H. Clausen. The fellowship is funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research.-
A master’s degree in engineering or chemistry with a strong theoretical and experimental background in organic chemistry

Applicants should have a thorough interest in organic synthesis. The position offers an opportunity to work with an international, dynamic and multi-disciplinary project. The studies will be carried out within the Division of Organic Chemistry, DTU Chemistry, which hosts a total of 8 faculty members and approximately 50 PhD students and postdocs.
Salary and appointment terms: The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
Qualified candidates can expect to start with a € 3800 monthly salary before taxes.
