The graph shows the information about the UK birth rates for women from 1973 to 2008.

The line graph given provides a comparison of the number of births given by Britain women in different age groups in a 35-year period since 1973

From an overall perspective, it is evident that the rate of births given by women aged from 30 to 39 showed an upward trend, whereas a reverse pattern could be observed in the others over the year shown

At the beginning of the period covered by the graph, the number of births given by the 25-29 age group ranked the first, at almost 140 births per 1000 people. Those from 20 to 25 and the 30-35 age group were lower, at just over 120 and under 80 respectively. Twice as many births were given as under 20 and 35-39-year-old women, at 60 compared with 40. However, the figures for the over 40-year-olds accounted for the lowest, at nearly 20 births

In the period from 1988 to 2008, there was a significant decrease in the birth rate of the under 20, 20 to 25 and over 40 age group, at 40, under 100 and 10 respectively. Having fluctuated around 130 births, the proportion of births given by the 25-to-29-year-old then ended at 120 births. A similar amount of the birth rate of the 30-35 and 35-39 age groups was witnessed. Another interesting point is that the figures for the 35-39-year-olds surpassed the under 20 age group and then finished at over 60 births
