SOUTH JORDAN, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Roseman University has appointed Frank Licari, D.D.S., MPH, MBA as the
new dean of the College of Dental Medicine-South Jordan. He will assume
the role on November 1, 2013.
“Dr. Licari brings an impressive level of experience in dental education
to Roseman University,” said Mark A. Penn, MD, MBA, Chancellor of the
Roseman University South Jordan campus. “With his background in
accreditation, academic affairs, clinical operations and private dental
practice, we believe he will be an ideal fit with the Roseman
educational philosophy, helping the DMD program continue to succeed and
grow in the future.”
Licari joins Roseman with more than 20 years of experience in dental
education at both public and private universities, most recently as the
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and professor at Midwestern
University College of Dental Medicine in Illinois. Prior to that he
served in a variety of administrative and faculty positions at the
University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, including his
recent position as Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and
previously as Clinical Associate Professor, Associate Dean of Patient
Care and Clinical Education, and Chief Risk Management Officer. He also
served as Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical
Education and Patient Care at Marquette University School of Dentistry.
He has worked with national organizations, as a Manager of Predoctoral
Dental Education at the American Dental Association and as a Senior
Consultant with the Academy for Academic Leadership. Licari also worked
as an international consultant with more than 50 dental schools in the
United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on
accreditation, curriculum, outcomes assessment, student competency and
faculty development.

After graduating from dental school Licari maintained a busy private
practice in Illinois for 10 years, and has taken an active role in both
university and public health service throughout his career. Licari looks
forward to being engaged with Roseman’s community partners to enhance
dental education for students, and to deliver quality dental care to
patients.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental
Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Dental Education
Association and American Association of Public Health Dentistry. He has
been recognized for his achievements in dental education with awards
that include the Pierre Fauchard Certificate of Merit, memberships in
Delta Omega and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, as well as Fellowships with the
American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
Licari holds Doctor of Dental Surgery, Master in Public Health and
Master in Business Administration degrees from the University of
Illinois at Chicago.

Roseman University College of Dental Medicine-South Jordan, Utah’s first
dental school, recently enrolled its third class of Doctor of Dental
Medicine students in the four-year program. The DMD program is
accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and has been
granted the accreditation status of initial accreditation.
Since the departure of founding dean Dr. Richard Buchanan, Dr. Penn has
been performing the duties of Interim Dean of the College of Dental
Medicine-South Jordan. Effective September 1, 2013, Dr. Penn has
appointed Dr. William Harman, Associate Dean for Admissions and Student
Services to serve as Acting Dean of the College of Dental Medicine until
Licari begins.
