Gujarat University: Admission to BSc courses from June 3

AHMEDABAD: The admission to first year Bachelor of Science (BSc) will begin from June 3. The schedule for first year commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) will be declared on Thursday.

Looking at the high pass out percentage, Gujarat University has decided to have class strength of 150 students.

The academic session for the first year BSc will begin from June 17.

Officials said the admission to the eight BSc colleges in Ahmedabad will be on merit, while in the rural areas, it will be on first-come-first-serve basis. The admission procedure will begin from June 3, while the last date for filling up forms will be June 5.

Officials said that once the merit list was declared, a students will be given adequate time to pay the fees. The first merit list will be displayed on June 8 and students will be able to pay the fees by June 10. The second merit list will be declared on June 11 and fees can be paid till June 13. If required, the third merit list will be declared on June 15. GU has also declared that the form fees has to be kept at just Rs 10.

"If any student is left out after the admissions, the university will accommodate him in any of the colleges. If required, we will increase the seat capacity in each class," said an official. In Ahmedabad, the eight colleges include MG Science College, St Xavier's college, CU Shah College, Bhavan's Science College, Maninagar Science College, GB Shah, Vasna, Keka Shastri College, Khokhara and Gujarat College.

Meanwhile, the detailed schedule for BCom, BBA and BCA will be declared on Thursday. GU has decided that they will first admit students to the five-year integrated courses as the HSC science pass outs are also eligible for its admission. They might start with admission to the first year Master of Science in Information Technology and follow it up with admissions to BBA, BCA and BCom.
