General Training Task 1

You have been offered a job, asking you to start next week. You want the job very much but, because of
a previous commitment, you want to delay the start for another two weeks.

Write to the Manager, accepting the job, but explaining your situation and asking for the change to
your start date.
• You should write at least 150 words.
• Allow yourself 20 minutes for this task.
• You do not need to write your own address.
Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir or Madam . . .

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a Sales supervisor at Sony Well Down Company. I am writing this letter to respond your job offer.
I was glad to meet you in Warwick Building a week ago. Your email regarding the job offer as a Sales Manager in your place also came as a charming surprise. Thank you so much for your belief in me to fill that vacancy.

According to our agreement, I should start taking this duty next week, however it seems that I would probably like to postpone owing to unpredictable conditions. My last company requires me to stay one week more because they are still unable to find a replacement worker. Moreover, even though I already have told to my old Manager regarding my resign plan three months before, some of my clients still need my hand to fix several duties.

As my condition, with a big respect, I would demand to reschedule my first day. I have met my director here and discuss it, it will be done in several days. Therefore my earliest work in your firm would be started on next two weeks.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am looking forward to hear a quick response from you

Yours faithfully,

War Wir Wur
