Some people prefer to live in a house, while others feel there are more advantages to living in an apartment. Are there more advantages than disadvantages of living in a house as compared with living in an apartment?

In this era of modernization, the global village has developed itself in every field. However the most revolutionary is the advancement in infrastructure, housing and technology. These changes have not only brought innovation to the minds of the builders but also given ways to the dwellers to choose their habitat, thus drawing a fine line between a house and an apartment.

Many people, especially those living in metro cities prefer owning an apartment over a house as they feel that buying and maintaining the apartment is much simpler and cost effective option since builders offer a variety of choices to choose from that too at competitive rates. Apartments not only provide enough space for nuclear families but also offer varied neighborhood and secure environment which is an important aspect when thinking from perspective of metro cities.

On the other hand, people opting for houses argue by saying ‘Every good thing comes at a good price’. Even if the houses are costlier but owning a house gives one a feeling of land lordship as one can construct and reconstruct the house as per one’s own desires and needs whenever one wants. Also it offers huge space to accommodate bigger families and unlike in apartments privacy is not compromised.

Today builders design apartments keeping the need of the people in mind and make optimum utilization of the land, space and resources to offer the best to prospective buyers. This method provides uniformity among apartments and also gives the dwellers a feeling of equality. Another advantage is the availability of gymnasiums, hospitals, swimming pools etc. for the apartment owner which offers a lavish lifestyle that too at minimum annual fee. Such localities also have schools to offer education to children of the residents.

At the end, I would like to say that living in an apartment is a much better option that living in a house, keeping the benefit provided by the housing societies aside, it triggers a sense of camaraderie and oneness among neighbors which is vital in forming a civilized society and also imbibing the quality of togetherness in children as they are future torch bearers of every country.
