The bar chart below shows the percentage of students who passed their high school competency exams by subject and gender during the period 2010 2011 includes French German and Spanish

The given bar chart illustrates the proportion of male and female students who succeed in seven different subjects in their high school competency examination in the years from 2010 to 2011.

Overall, students from both sexes performed the best in Computer science, followed by Mathematics and Foreign Languages, including French, German and Spanish. Also, although results for the boys and girls were roughly equivalent in Mathematics and Foreign languages, it appeared that the girls outperformed the boys in every subject except geography.

When compare the statistical data in detail, a significant difference was noted in the results of Computer Science. 56.3% of the female students had passed the subject and such passing rate was approximately 14% higher than the male students. Furthermore, the difference in passing rates of both gender was even more marked in Chemistry, where the percentage of girls who had passed the exam was double the proportion of the boys. As aforementioned, the only subject where boys performed better than their female counterparts was Geography, they had achieved a passing rate of 30.4%, which was higher than the passing rate for girls.

To sum up, the statistics show that girls achieved better results in most subjects in the high school competency exam than boys in the period from 2010 to 2011.
