The line graph displays how much acid rain emission was discharged from four different sources in the UK from 1990 to 2007.
Overall, there were considerable decreases in the total amount of acid rain emission from most sectors, and especially, the sharpest decline was seen in The Electricity, Gas, Water Supply sector across the entire recorded period.
The figure for acid rain emissions from Electricity, Gas, Water Supply was the highest with 3.2 million tonnes whereas just about 2.1 million tonnes came from the other industries in 1990. However, there was a dramatic decrease of nearly 3 million tonnes in Electricity, Gas, Water Supply in 2007. The number of emissions from Other industries similarly dropped significantly to 1.25 million tonnes between 1993 and 2004. It then remained stable until 2007.
Meanwhile, Acid rain emissions from Transportation, Communication and domestic sector were lowest with just only 0.6 and 0.5 respectively. The Transportation, Communication sector experienced a slight decrease, peaking at 1 million tonnes in 2005, while the domestic sector went down gradually to 0.2 million tonnes over the period.
