The table illustrates figures regarding underground railway system in six major cities.

From the table similarities exist in half of the six cities. London, Paris and Tokyo launched their underground railway as early as 1863.All of them have the longest kilometers of route and highest number of passenger per year. First was London's railway with the longest system being 394 kilometers and 775 million travellers. Second was Paris train line with 199 kilometers worth of distance and 1,191 million commuters. Third was Tokyo rail line with 155 kilometers of track and reached the highest number of passenger ( 1,927 million per year.)

On the other hand, the remaining three cities such as Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles began their railway as late as 2001. All of those cities had the lowest kilometers and passengers compared to the other cities. Moreover, Kyoto built the shortest distance (11 kilometers with 14 million commuters.)

Overall, it shows that two cities from Asia had the biggest and smallest number of passengers using their railway: (Japan and Kyoto, respectively.)
