Overall, it can be seen that although many regions experienced declines in their population, total world population increased significantly throughout the period.

At the fleeting glance, in 1900, Asia Pacific got top slot in having large population with more than half (60%) of total population, but this figure decreased by 6% in 2000. Similarly, the percentage of people, who lived in Europe declined to 14 in 2000 from 25 in 1900. Whereas, the proportion of North America's population and other regions' population was 5% and 3% in 1900 , respectively and it remained same in 2000.

Probing further, Africa had 6% more population in 2000 as compared to 1900, amounting to 10%. The ratio of masses living in Latin America was only 3% in 1900 , which increased to 8% in 2000 . While, about 6% population used to live in new regions namely Middle East and North Africa in 2000.
