Overall, it can be seen that dinner contains the highest percentage of total sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks contain the highest amount of added sugar. Generally, it woud appear that breakfast is the healthiest meal in the USA.
Looking at the sodium chart in more detail, it is clear that the highest percentage of sodium comes from dinner, at 43%, compared to 29% from lunch and 14% for both snacks and breakfast.
Turning to the saturated fat chart, it is evident that 37% of saturated fat comes from dinner, which is the highest percentage for this category, as opposed to 26%, 21% and 16% from lunch, snacks and breakfast respectively.
Finally, the added sugar pie chart shows that the percentage of total added sugar which comes from snacks is the highest, at 42%. 23% of total added sugar comes from dinner, which is followed by the figures of lunch and breakfast, 19% and 16% respectively.
