The line chart illustrates the number of products delivered in the UK from 1974 to 2002 by four different transports : road, water, rail and pipeline
Overall, the quantities of goods transported by road, water and pipeline showed an upward trend, whereas those transported by rail fluctuated. In addition, shipping goods by road is the best choice for people in the UK over the period
The figure for products delievered by riad was the highest whereas that by pipeline was the lowest. In 1974, the number of goods shipped by road started at just over 70 million tonnes then that increased moderately over the years and hit the highest point at under 100 million tonnes in 2002. By constrat, the quantities of goods delivered by pipeline started at the lowest point, just over 5 million tonnes and that figure climbed up to approximately 20 million tonnes between 1974 and 2002
Moreover, the figure for goods conveyed by water and rail standed nearly 40 million tonnes in 1974 and those remained at exactly 40 million tonnes in 1978. But there was more people in the UK chose water shipping so the number of items transported by water increased with some fluctuations and it reached a peak at over 60 million tonnes in the last year. Whereas, rail shipping was less popular than water shipping. The volume of goods delievered by rail decreased with some variations and it reached over 40 million tonnes in 2002.
