Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they case doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.

The main topic of both passage and the lecture is to discuss the truth of Peary's claim which he reached to the north pole. The author argues that his claim is true based on some theory in support of this fact, while the lecturer, in contrast, not only refutes the author's claims but also states that there are not solid evidence to support this idea, on the number of accounts elaborated upon here under.
To commence with, both the writer and the speaker discuss the National Geographic Society committee to investigate this claim. The author asserts National Geographic Society concluded that Peary's accounts were consistent and persuasive. The professor contradicts this idea by asserting that even though the National Geographic Society investigates the truth of this claim but this was not completely objective; moreover, its members were the close friends of Peary which funded his trip to the north. In addition, this committee investigates and established for 2 days which they could not record carefully this issue.
Thus their decision was biased and untrustworthy.
In addition, both the reading and the lecturer discuss speed issue of the same trip as well as the Peary's trip. The author says that Tom Avery's trip declared the truth of this claim because that trip had the same condition. The Professor, on the other hand, states that Avery's trip condition was different in comparison with Peary's trip. Even though both of them use the same sled as the professor said Avery slid did not carry any food and food transfer with the airplane to him; moreover; the weather condition was different and this condition for Peary trip was unfavorable.
The last allegation of the author against which the professor asserts is that some photo could not prove this fact. The speaker argues that photograph could not support his claim. There are some techniques which investigate the photos precisely. The Peary's photo taken by a primitive fuzzy slightly camera and its photo could fade over time. Therefore, these photos are not suitable for obtaining the exact place of the sun. Finally, this claim was not precise.
