TPO 01 -Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support.
Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

It is obvious that universities and colleges have a prominent role in shaping students' future career. Considering the fact that the budget of universities remains limited, some people believe that classes are more important than sports and social activities and hence, they need to receive more financial support. Others may hold opposite opinion claiming that extracurricular activities deserve to be expensed equal amount of money regarding academic classes. From my point of view, I believe that the latter carry more weight. In this essay, I will explain specific reasons according to which I think are the most well-known viewpoints among people.
To begin with, it is a well-established fact that sports can help up to improve our physical as well as mental health significantly. Since we are talking about sports in a university context, we need to take into account what benefits do university sports offer to students. From a student's perspective, studying incessantly can be frustrating and overwhelming. So, students need to have fun in order to get refreshed. Doing sports make them feel revived. To illustrate, as a university student at Iran University of Science and Technology back in 2000, I was majoring in software engineering. There was a nice tennis court in vicinity of the stadium located at the north corner of the university campus. Some students including one of close my friends, Sara, often played tennis at that court. I always thought that it was a waste of time while we could spend more time on studying instead of playing tennis. But, it was totally wrong. With Sara's suggestion, I decided to go about playing tennis at that court twice a week after my classes. Soon, I found it very interesting to do. After a while, I felt so fresh. Besides, I was able to cope with difficult situations I was faced with more efficiently. In addition, my capabilities in problem-solving regarding my major were increased considerably which led to better scores. As you can see, university sports helped me to be more successful student and augmented my liveliness and youthfulness.
Next, students can take advantage of participating in social activities to get rid of likely negative effects of studying constantly such as tiredness and exhaustion. One of the best forms of these kinds of activities is to join clubs. As such, you have a good chance to meet other students majoring different fields and converse with them. I think that these acquaintances might lead to new friendships. For example, at the university where I was studying years ago, I joined an English club which its members were the ones from different schools. We had a great time collecting around a table and discussing about current events occurring in campus using English language. This motivated me to continue practicing speaking English on a daily basis. In addition, I met some cool guys in that club and we have been in contact with each other since then. Some of them have turned into my close friends. As a result, joining that club gave me an opportunity to be familiar with whom I had common interests with them and we ended up being close friends.
To sum up, life is not sitting behind a desk and studying. Soon, Students will be graduated from universities and will encounter wide variety facets of real life. Being engaged in social activities teach them how to commune better with people and doing sports help them to get stronger, healthier, and stay focused in order to face future more efficiently.
