TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

The article states that offering emplyees 4-day workweek with less pay could be beneficial for both economics and individual companies. Conversely, the profssor states that if companies would do so, it would not add any significane benefit for either employees or companies. And he refutes each of the author's reasons.

First, the reading claims that the shortened workweek would increase company profits, because employees would get enough rested time and become alert, so they ould do less errors. The professor, on the other hand, refutes this point by stating that companies would spend much more money than before. Companies whose hired emplyees for 4 day workweek, they will need to add new workers. This means more training, and more health benf The professor explains that health benefits would be differenece hether an employee worked or 5 days per a week. In addition those new workers would need more space and more desks. As a result, All of these reasons would lead companies to spend more money that would be cutting from its profits. companies would get more money from offering 4 wrokweek to their employees.

Second, the article avers that one of the primary bebnfots of offering this option to empolyees is that it would reduce unemployement rates. However, the professor opposes this point by saying that this option would not make jobs available. As he mentioned earlier, the cost of hiring of new employees is very expensive, so companies would have other option to do. For instance, a company force their wmployees to work overtime, or a company would increase their expectation level And consequently, an employee who worked 4-day workweek would have to do the same amount of work as worked for 5-days, and company did no to creat more jobs. the professor concludes by offering 4-day would create jobs unpleasant environment for emplyees.

Third, the reading posits that employees who worked 4-day would have time to spend with their families and beloved ones, so they would improve their quality of lives. professor disagrees with this point by saying that working 4 days a week would present risks and reduce the quality of lives for people. He adds that working 4 ays would create jobs instability and hurt advancing in jobs. According to the professor, an emplyee that worked 4 days per week would be first to lose his job or lose the opportunity to get promoted. Because companies would prefer to promote an employee who worked days per week in management position. For the reason of constant supervisom
