Both lecture and article discuss the little ice age period in which cold temperature. According to the passage, the author provides three reasons for little ice age. Whereas, the lecturer says that article present the outdated data and contradict the each outline of the article.
Firstly, the reading passage implies that disturbance in ocean current causes decreases the temperature. Gulf Stream collects the large water from the glacier melting ice and it directly effects on the earth's climate. In contrast with this, the speaker explains that Gulf Stream only affects the North America and Europe but not affect in the other country such as New Zealand and Africa. Therefore, Gulf Stream not responsible for the cooler climate of the earth.
Secondly, the article emphasizes that volcanic eruption produces a large amount of the dust and sulfur gas which prevent sunlight to reaching earth surface. On the contrary with this, the lecturer mentions that if the large amount of dust produces then we could visualize such as a color of the sunset and snow gray. So, the volcanic eruption is a reason for decrease temperature is unconvincing.
Thirdly, the author states that decrease the human population causes decrease the usage of the forest trees. As result, trees absorb the carbon dioxide which is greenhouse gases and decrease the temperature. On the other hand, the professor points out that, the human population quickly recover and demand of forest not decrease but increase for food. So, forest not help to decline the temperature.
