According to the passage, Robert E. Peary was adventure and arctic explorer. The author claims that Peary reached the North Pole and he presents three evidence that prove their claims. Whereas, the lecturer says that present the evidence are not solid and unconvincing.
Firstly, the article emphasizes that committee of the nation geographic society investigate about the Peary account, the committee concludes that account was consistent and convincing evidence prove that Peary reaches to the North Pole. In contrast with this, the lecturer mentions that the committee who took the investigation was close friend of the Peary and they contribute fund for trip. In fact, the committee not proper examines record; therefore, presented evidence was not trustworthy.
Secondly, the passage implies that Tom Avery took less 37 days to reach the North Pole; So Peary claim was true that he reach the North Pole in 37 days. On the contrary with this, the speaker explains that Avery travels same as Peary but when Avery was travel that time climate was good but when Peary travels that time unfavorable weather and traveling not possible.
Thirdly, the author states that photograph with surf s position was stronger evidence that Peary reach the North Pole. However, the professor points out the photographs made by uses of the science technology. Precise photographs with surf s position mush cannot capture by old camera. Therefore, cannot prove that Peary reaches the North Pole.
