TPO-28 - Integrated Writing Task Robert E. Peary was a well-known adventurer and arctic explorer who in 1909 set out to reach the North Pole. When he returned from the expedition, he claimed to have reached the pole on April 7, 1909. This report made him

The reading and the lecture are both about a journey of Robert E.Peary in which he made a journey to north pole. The author in a article believes that peary claim is justified by providing an evidence. however, a lecture refutes such claims are unreasonable. author believes that expedition made by peary is skeptic.

first of all, the author claims that committee formed by national geographic declared a claim was valid after a assessment evidences and records of pearls account, as it was found to be reliable and persuasive. however, a lecturer refute such evidences. he believes that the committee member of were Peary friends, thus making a decision in favor of Peary. furthermore, an investigation was conducted only for 2 days, causing superficial examination of evidence and making a biased decision.

secondly, author implied a expedition done by Pearls are possible, since Avery, his counterpart, using same breed of dog, had done a same expedition within a less than 37 days ( as Pearl completes in 37 days). this claim is disagreed by author. the lecturer, says that during transportation, a weight carried by Avery is far more less than Peary, making him easier to complete the journey in short duration. in additional, journey taken by Avery was in favorable climate which further aids in completion of journey in short period. however, Peals, having a heavy weight and unfavorable condition, leads to grueling journey making it all most impossible within 37 days.

finally, author calls up a evidence using a pearls photograph shadow taken in North pole on that days by measuring a surf position in the sun. he says that a surf position calculated from his photograph corresponds the to the exact surf position in that day. however, it is opposed by a lecturer. he claims that a photograph taken by Pearl is 100 years old, leading to blurred and faded images. since, a calculation, requiring a great accuracy, finds it difficult to examine precisely due a faded images.
