Whereas, according to the lecture, the professor challenging to each outline presented in the reading.
Firstly, the passage claims that overhunting of sea cow by Siberian people causes decrease the population of the sea cow. In contrast, the lecturer mentions that giant sea cows amazing the body, sea cows weight was ten tone and nine meter long. Siberian population also large and they was eating the cows but them not hunting the huge cows. Massive weight and size causes the people have less need the sea cows.
Secondly, the theory implies that kelp was one type of plant species which is meal for the sea cows. Unfortunately ecosystem disturbance population of the kelp decrease therefore, decline the sea cows population also because of mammals rely on this plants. On the other hand, the speaker explains that it is true that destruction the kelp plant but this hypothesis not responsible for the decline sea cows. If marine mammals depend on the plant species then other mammal such as whale population also affect but whale population is not decline and also not strong effect on the food chain.
Lastly, the author emphasizes that European fur traders hunt the sea cows by their weapon causes the large number of sea cows killed. On the contrary, the professor points out that when European fur trader came in 1768 that time before already sea cows population is plummeted. It is not reasons that European fur trader causes decrease the sea cows population.
