TPO 40

The professor explains three clear arguments opposing the points stated in the reading passage about the possibility of humans' permanent residency in Venus and rejects all of the claims that consider Mars and Moon as a more hospitable planets than Venus.

First of all, the professor argues that atmospheric pressure of Venus, which is 90 times greater than Earth's pressure and destroys everything, can be solved by building a station in 50 kilometers higher than Venus surface. This station can be flow by balloon and atmospheric pressure in mentioned height is equal to Earth because pressure and height have negative relationship with each other; the more height the less pressure.

Second of all, the reading passage states that Venus' surface lacks of any water reservoirs which are critical for humans' live. Furthermore, Venus' atmosphere is more consist of elements like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid instead of oxygen, therefore, humans' should transfer sufficient amount of water and oxygen in order to be able to live in Venus. However, the professor argues against this idea and stated that using some chemical processes, we can transform elements in Venus' atmosphere to oxygen and other useful elements. So, we don't need to import water and oxygen from Earth to Venus.

Third of all and last, although the reading passage asserts that more than 60 percent of sunlight that hits Venus is reflected back into atmosphere and only 40 percent of it absorb by Venus surface because of thick clouds, professor believes that clouds are not very thick and station can use sunlight energy as well as reflected lights to manufacture electricity. So, solar power cells can provide sufficient electricity for humans' daily activity.
