The author rejects the possibility of human presence on Venus surface and provides three reasons to support his claim. On the other hand, the speaker refutes the author's reasons and discusses why human can inhabit the planet Venus.

First, the author argues that pressure at Venus is so high that any human craft will crush on the surface but the lecturer explains that also the pressure is high on Venus surface, the pressure in a place higher than surface decreases and it is possible to maintain a station at a distance of 50 Kilometer above the surface. He adds that the planet pressure at this distance is normal and close to Earth.

Second, the reading states that there are no water reserves on the planet and the atmosphere is made of carbon dioxide, nitrogen and sulfuric acid which make it impossible for a human to live in. In addition, the author explains that we should supply our water and oxygen from Earth that is impractical. However, the professor suggests using certain chemical processes to produce water and oxygen from the planet's ingredient namely carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

Third, the author mentions the lack of sunlight on the surface to generate electricity, however the professor explains that since the station locates above the surface, enough sunlight can penetrate the dense Venus clouds in atmosphere. In addition, we can produce electricity from sunlight reflected from surface. In other words, we can use sun radiation from both direction.
