The city police on Sunday claimed to have busted a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam impersonation racket after it nabbed 11 persons at an examination centre in Karkhana. According to B. Limba Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force), Shaik Wajid Basha of Gandhinagar started a TOEFL exam centre ‘I P Zone’ at CVR Plaza in Vikarampuri colony in Secunderabad with his friend, Iftequar uddin alias Afroz. Wajid began conducting the TOEFL exam at his centre two months ago. As a practice, before taking the test, a candidate’s photo is taken with a webcam and the person is allowed to write the exam. There is no online monitoring or surveillance, he said. Cashing upon the loopholes, Wajid and Ifteqar roped in three persons to take the test on behalf of candidates. On a tip off, they were held.
