Scholarship Letter For Master Program
Dear selection committee,
Ever since I was a child, I have been dreaming of working as a creative marketer and strategist in Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to contribute my effort to social sustainability. Throughout my journey, I have been step-by-step enriching my knowledge in this field by joining and leading the Marketing Club; experiencing the corporate’s professional working environment; devoting to the marketing goal of businesses; establishing, planning and executing the social campaign of many NGOs.
With my burning desire, I have perpetually been seeking opportunities for learning and upgrading myself as a future marketer. During my junior year at university, I applied for the Marketing Club, became a core member, project leader and then president within two years growing in this Club. Primarily, I was responsible for establishing directions for members’ development both in academic fields and interpersonal-skill enhancement, acting as a bridge that connects many global agencies with the student by holding the school's conference and networking events. Within one year of my intense hard work, I am in the trust of my ability to be the leader, who creates and shares value for the others, equips my members with Marketing mindsets and provides a source of qualified internees or executives for the Marketing industry. I cooperatively work with my team to carry out many famous and professional Marketing Forum, conferences or competitions, which gain the trust of the specialists from the Marketing industry and the students. I now proudly present that I did a decent job in my terms because all my members have devoted their effort to the general goal of the organization, spend their time and self-resources without being paid. Especially, my members have gained plenty of achievements in marketing careers or competitions and got positive feedbacks for their attitudes at work. Besides that, I am rewarded as an active student, who utilizes the club's resources to assist the school and lecturers to build a strong brand image for my university by leading school events or promoting my schools on various social media platforms. My ambition is to work for some NGOs, namely Unicef, Save the children, Smile Foundation... Thus, I believe that leading the Marketing Club has undoubtedly been one of the momentum in my life that embarks on my career as the future NGO’s marketer.
Remarkably, TeamX - a Vietnamese marvelous NGO spreading the message of innovation for the Millenials, offers an opportunity for me to voluntarily contribute to the society as the media department’s team lead. We are actively involved in the TedX Nguyen Hue event which gathered over 3000 millennials joining in the first time establishment. These NGO environment has constantly sparked my desire to be assertive for my beliefs and values in my future career. In my country, the Marketing activities in NGOs paradoxically fall short of what I expected to learn from, therefore, I decided that the experience in the business industry would be beneficial and contribute to my long term goal, thus I started as a marketing executive in GHN Express - one of the top three biggest Vietnamese logistics companies in my third year. My prime responsibilities are creating digital media plans, leading the media team to convert website visitors into qualified leads. Within nearly one year working in a professional environment, I was so fortunate to participate in both digital, brand and trade teams to gain more knowledge within the Marketing industry. One significant experience when working at this company is to join with Google to create a business campaign, which utilizes GHN’s driver workforce to verify locations in Google My Business. This golden opportunity brings me not only the chance to hone my skills but it also challenges my limits as I had to adapt steadily to the global working environment, get to know the new process and apply my knowledge in creating automatic platforms for the driver to verify, research and create a whole verifying process with our partners and carry out a well-thought-out media plan to introduce our product to the public. Despite the high-pressure moments, the result was beyond our expectation that the product and process were successfully launched and greatly promoted on many media platforms that increase brand awareness significantly. Significantly, I am most grateful that I make a meaningful impact, which creates more jobs and income for the drivers sustainably and also a more efficient service for end-users. Experiencing in corporate life provides me more knowledge to devote to my biggest dream.
However, the more experience I have in this industry, the more I found out that the training courses and reference documents in Vietnam to be insufficient for the student to learn. Especially, Marketing has been lately introduced to Vietnam and I hold my belief that we have to establish a Marketing mindset to get through a long and sustainable run rather than an instant and unstable plan like it is being carried in Vietnam right now. With the growing potential of this field and my desire of contributing to the Vietnamese Marketing performance, I have been urging myself to find an appropriate master program to upgrade my academic knowledge and technical expertise in the field, and observe the way teaching and studying is conducted in an advanced educational system to import it to Vietnamese organization.
During my time in university, I and my teammates came as the first runner in a marketing contest for creating an integrated marketing master plan for Coca Cola in my second year. This was also a priceless opportunity for me to establish my network in marketing careers with experts and managers from prestigious brands. I diligently work with a team and this allows me to utilize my leadership skills to bring prosperity. Besides my academic and working aspects, I also create a fan page to encourage and remind people drinking water and get 100k within a month. I was totally surprised about the result of this fan page with over 1K organic engagements per post and I can see how marketing creates an impactful influence on people’s behaviors in this modern world. People like to share my post and try to share the message as much as they can to enhance the others’ awareness about health.
I envision Norway in which the educational institutions will equip students with professional skills so that it produces entrepreneurs rather than job seekers. The high-caliber educational schemes I gain from your institution will expend specialist knowledge in Strategic Marketing Management. As I would like to obtain in-depth expertise about the category's insight, how to seek out the best communication method matched with the target audience, establish a marketing campaign in a long and sustainable run with logical budget allocation and how to be up-to-date with the speed and spin of the marketing industry. With the establishment of the cutting edge technologies, especially Artificial Intelligent or Big Data, I am convinced that Marketing will be leveled up into a higher position to reach its climax soon. By combining professional study background and technological evolution, I believe Marketing can make a more relevant effect on the target audience to bring out a positive influence of each campaign launched. As far as I know, BI Norwegian Business School is ranked among the best university in Norway, which has a high percentage of international students and I would love to be part of diverse cultures. Another good reason to join BI Norwegian Business School is home to many international businesses, which will help me in building strong professional and academic connections and explore the work culture of different countries. On researching further about Strategic Marketing Management program I was attracted by the curriculum of the program which covers a broad spectrum of courses from basics to complex topics in the field of Marketing and also has dedicated courses on research and practical experience. Besides, your master's program offers excellent teaching facilities and staff and I am attracted by the seriousness and demandingness of your courses as well as by the opportunity to study under prominent professors and researchers. I also value that, as a fact, the education in Marketing Management at BI Norwegian Business School does not stop with theory and emphasizes the necessity of own research in the area.
As my parents are ordinary officers in my hometown with a moderate source of income, I was soon aware that scholarships would financially equip me for the pursuit of advanced education. Therefore, the scholarship granted by BI School represents an immeasurable opportunity in making my dream come true. In conclusion, I am sure of how much I wish to pursue my career as a Creative Marketer and Strategist in NGOs and this master program is the right start for my career path. I am well informed that the assessment criteria for the scholarship are tough, yet I am convinced that my background, experiences, and motivation will make me a strong candidate.
