In the old days across the globe, couples had more children thus they were large as family.
There were many advantageous and disadvantageous of being a part of large family which I will illustrate in the course of this essay.

To commence with, one of major advantageous of having a large family is emotional strength. None of the family member felt alone like today’s adolescents when their other family members were busy with their work. In fact, they always had someone for study, sports or other activities from family only. In addition, The elders always tried to teach their younger siblings new skills, about responsibilities etc with more attention as compared to outsiders. For example, One of my close friends, She has 5 siblings in her first family. She never had a need of any tutor in her studies because her elder sister always guide her in course of study.

On the other hand, financial uncertainty was biggest drawback of having a large families. Most of the times, it became very difficult for one person to earn enough to feed his whole family. In reality, this is one of the major reasons why people tend to have small families because the expense of multiple children’s education, nourishment and other requirements consume the major part of family’s income. The another disadvantage was privacy, people did not get their private room for their privacy as they had a limited space to share among many.

To reiterate, although having a large family had many drawbacks but the benefits were phenomenal. The children always had their siblings with them as teacher, supporter or partner to have a meaningful life.

In the old days across the globe, couples had more children thus they were larger as a family. There were many advantages and disadvantages of being a part of a large family which I will illustrate in the course of this essay.

To commence with, one of the major advantages of having a large family is emotional security. Being part of large family eradicates loneliness as opposed to today’s adolescents since there’s always one or the other family member who’s available. In fact, one always has someone with who can accompany them during studies, sports as well as other activities. In addition, younger siblings learn new skills and responsibilities as they constantly are in sight and keenly observe their elders. For example, consider Stacy has 5 siblings, she seldom had the need for a tutor to assist because her elder sister always guided her. Since Stacy had an elder sibling, this meant she could be home tutored and therefore saved the cost of an external tutor until a certain age.

On the other hand, financial uncertainty was one of the biggest drawbacks of having a large family. Most of the times, it became very difficult for one person to earn enough to feed their whole family. In reality, this is one of the major reasons why people opt for a smaller family because the expense of multiple children’s education, nourishment and other requirements consumes the major part of the family’s income. Another disadvantage is privacy. In large families, siblings were often compelled to share a room due to limited space in the house. This meant that siblings would often get into arguments that could potentially lead to physical encounters.

To reiterate, although having a large family may have many drawbacks but the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. The youth could be home schooled, had elders for assistance and would more often find comfort at home.
