There have been a growing number of overweight people recently. What are some causes of this problem and solutions to tackle this?
First, consuming numerous processed foods is one of the reasons that lead to obesity. Because of the rapidly growing fast food restaurants, junk food is becoming more ubiquitous and people now can buy that unhealthy food easily and conveniently. America, which consumes the highest amount of processed foods, has over 55% elderly people and about 39% younger are overweight, and that rate of obesity is still increasing. Second, with the development of technologies, humans now become more and more lazy and sedentary. People have a growing tendency to depend on technical devices and spend less time sporting. A survey in Ho Chi Minh city in 2020 showed that over 60% who were asked have been spending more than 3h using social media for entertainment but only 15% spend over 1h a day doing exercise. That sedentary life makes individuals slothful, thus, the superfluous calories can not be burned, as a result people easily gain weight and become overweight.
To avoid getting fat, experts have many different methods and useful tips for people to follow. The best way to keep fit is cooking at home instead of eating out. When eating at home, the amount of calories each person needs can be calculated accurately and adjusted accordingly to the demand of individuals. For example, if a person wants to lose weight, the ingredients which were chosen for the dishes should contain less calories than the quantity that person needs. Clearly, restaurants can not adjust the ingredients for each guest, so replacing a take-away by a homemade meal is an easy way to build up a healthy body. Another method is reducing time on social networks and doing more exercises. People can easily increase their activity by walking and cycling instead of driving to commute. Workout benefits people burning calories and constructing muscles, hence, individuals can keep fit and avoid being obese
