On Students Selecting Lecturers

As China furthers its educational reform, some colleges and universities recently even allow their students to select lecturers by themselves.

Enerally speaking, students would take the following two factors into consideration when it comes to choosing their lecturers. First, the lecturers’ mastery of what they teach. Since most of the students give priority to their studies, a learned teacher with high degree would undoubtedly be popular with them. Second, the lecturers’ teaching styles. No one likes to study in a dull atmosphere. As a result, a humorous teacher would be more likely to be chosen by his students.

However, such a process can be a double-edged sword. On the one hand, students would benefit from their teachers’ attempt to improve their teaching. On the other hand, some good teachers may be ignored by some blind students, especially when they are judged simply by their appearance. Therefore, we must develop a proper and rational attitude to choosing lecturers.（ We must make careful decisions when choosing lecturers.）
