Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems.To what extent to you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective

Continuously growing traffic and pollution problems are becoming hot topic around the world. Many countries are bringing new policies to solve these problems. One of them is increasing the price of petrol. It is believed that increasing price of petrol won’t solve these problems. Governments have to think more broadly to curb these problems by introducing innovative ideas and educating public.

Firstly, introducing policies such as subsidies for companies who install and use energy efficient technologies. For example Singapore government gives tax exemption for the product produced by the manufacturer who installed and operating equipment with energy efficient technology. This allows manufacturer to consume less amount of energy and produce less amount of hydrocarbons into atmosphere. From this it is clear that promoting new technologies also helps in solving pollution problems.

Further, traffic problems can be solved by encouraging public to take public transport instead of driving their own car to offices on every day. For example Singapore government runs public transport at low cost and multiple services to encourage public to board on public transport. This helped country to solve traffic problem on top this promoting low cost hybrid cars also help minimise traffic problems because these hybrid cars occupy less space compared to big cars. With promoting new ideas traffic problems can be solved.

From above discussion it is clear that increasing petrol price is not the best solution. Growing traffic and pollution problems are solvable by promoting new technologies and educating people about importance of public transport.
