Students prefer doing part-time jobs during their studies. What are the advantages or disadvantages of this?
On several occasions, when we enter a restaurant or receive a home delivery, a student wearing a work cloak is on the other end providing the service. Why are they doing part-time jobs at this young age? This essay throws light into the positive and negative aspects of this scenario and substantiates this growing trend of part-time job among teenagers.
The youth reap a lot of benefits by working part-time. The extra source of income aids them in supporting the family besides covering their own expenses. If a student is prudent enough to acquire a position in a field relevant to his/her study, then the work experience elevates the standard of his/her resume. Effective time management is another take away of great value. Furthermore, an organised lifestyle impedes the youth from indulging in undesirable activities.
Working while studying leaves the students with less or no time to glam up their hobbies or talents. Needless to mention the pressure to be handled at a tender age, which is the fruitful era of life. In addition to this, a recent survey conducted by the sophomores of the PSG College of Management confirmed that the academic output of youngsters with part-time job is not on par with their counterparts who don’t have one.
As the advantages outweigh the drawbacks of having a part-time work, the students prefer to take up an additional chore. However, care should be exercised in choosing the nature and location of the job so that the educational needs are taken care of.
