The line chart illustrates the rate of smokers for different genders in Someland from 1960 to 2000. It can be generally seen that there is lower rate of female smokers than their male counterparts, while a gradual decrease trend was shown in recent years.
To be more specific, in 1960, a huge difference between men and women was depicted, which is 600 for men and 100 for female respectively. After its climax in 1960, the blue line, which represents the rate of men, had a steady decline in this forty years, ending up with around 250 per 1000 people in 2000.
Oppositely, the changes for female smokers seems to be relatively complicated. In the first 15 years, the rate had a significant increase, rising from just under 100 in 1960 to over 300 in 1975, although it leveled off shortly at approximate 190 in a 5 years period from 1965. Interestingly, the rate kept stable at 300 afterwards, which is followed by a slight collapse since 1990. It lead a 200 point in 2000.
To sum up, the smoking rate for male dropped throughout the period, whereas a higher result was shown for female in the end.
