Cambridge 6 test 4 task 1 The charts below give the information about USA marriage and divorce rates between 1970 and 2000 and the marital status of adult Americans in two of the years

The first chart shows how million people were married and divorced while the second chart describes the percentage of marital status of grown up people from 1970 to 2000 in the USA.

Overall, marriage people were more than divorced people throughout the 30 years. Similarly, marital status of adults were married mostly instead of never married, widowed or divorced.

First of all, it can be seen the adults got married more than divorced overwhelmingly although marriage’s number were decreased approximately 2.5 million to 2 million in 30 years. It remained constant in 1970 and 1980. Otherwise, 1980 were the year of that people got most divorced, accounted for just under the 1.5 million and it decreased to just over 1 million in 10 years. However, about 1 million people got divorced in 1970 and 2000.

In second chart, while the marriage percentage were decline almost 70% to just under %60, never married adults increase averagely 5% in 30 years. Percentage of widowed persons were not change significantly and it made up around 5-7%. American adult people were divorced less than 10% in the years of 1970 and 2000 in despite of it rose from well under to almost 10%.
