The chart below gives information about trends in internet use by females in the USA in two years.

The given chart compares the proportional change in relation to the usage of internet services by the female population of different ages in the USA over a time period of 2 years from 200 to 2001.

Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the trend of using the internet dropped gradually with age across both the years. However, the proportion of teens and youngsters was maximum in this context.

According to the given illustration, leading the chart in 2000, the youngest group topped the list with 90% internet users. Whilst 88% of the teens were recorded, nearly 8 in every 10 young girls (19-24) preferred using internet, and merely 77% of the middle-aged women opted for the same. However, a steady decline brought down the percentage of women in their mid-forties under 70%. Also, in the case of 65 and above, only 2 out of 10 aged women were interested in the internet.

On the contrary, a reverse trend was witnessed in the youngest and teen group in 2001. The former slipped slightly by 1%, while a dramatic rise in the latter climbed the proportion to 100%. On the other hand, a similar trend for 19 to 24 aged girls maintained the proportional rate as it was during the previous year and leveled off the same rate for 25 to 35 age group as well. Although other groups rose gradually in 2001 by nearly 10%, the overall pattern followed a sharp plunge, as only 3 to 5 (56 and above) in every 10 women loved using the internet.
