The bar charts illustrate the prospects of the UK graduate and postgraduate students who did not decide to have a full-time job after they graduated in 2008.
Looking more closely at the first chart, further study was the major decisions for the undergraduates in UK, with approximately 30000 students planned to receive higher education. By strike contrast, only 3500 students decided to work as volunteers after graduation. In the same year, the number of unemployed graduates and the part-time employees were similar, with around 18000 and 16000 students respectively.
According to the second chart, around 2800 postgraduate students planned to study further, which was the dominant destination for postgraduates as well. Meanwhile, roughly 2500 postgraduates were employed as part-time workers, which was slightly fewer than those who planned to study further. Finally, 1625 postgraduate students were still unemployed while only 345 students participated in voluntary work.
In general, it is apparent that the most popular destination for both UK graduates and postgraduates was further study, but only a minimal proportion of students chose to work as volunteers.
