The chart demonstrates the count of the accidents and events caused by commuter rail, heavy rail, light rail, bus, and demand response per billion passenger miles traveled in the year 2002.

Overall, there are more incidents rather than accidents for every means of transport, whereas the commuter rail is the safest mode to travel and the demand response are less secured.

According to the chart, commuter rails are secured means and has nearly 22 conflicts and 20 disasters, which is minimal than other methods. In heavy-rail, there are more events than the accidents, It has 50 incidents and nearly 40 injuries in 100 million PMT. The incidents are double than the accidents in a light rail but have the same count of injuries like in a heavy rail.

Again, people on the bus are less problematic than accidents, the incidents are the same as the light rail but the accident level is more than 70 per 100 million PMT. The demand response is the unsecured medium that the public uses as the method of transport in 2002. It has more than 250 incidents and 170 accidents, it is nearly triple than a bus, light-rail, and heavy rail and 10 times greater than commuter rail.
