The chart below shows numbers of incidents and injuries per 100 million passenger miles travelled (PMT) by transportation type in 2002.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart depicts the account of injuries of people and accidents caused by various transportation methods in the year 2002.

Looking from all perspectives, it is readily apparent that there was an upward trend in both categories of incidents and injuries in every category. Turning to the details, the demand-responsive transportation had the highest rate in incidents, standing at 250 PMT as well as in injuries, showing at around 150 PMT. Regarding solely incident rates, an equal number of passengers were victims for both light rail and bus transport services, at around 75 PMT. The incidents for heavy rail stood only at 50 PMT whilst the least was caused by commuter rail, with less than 50 in PMT.

On the other hand, apart from demand response service, the injury rate was lower in other types of transport. only a mere 50 passengers were injured at bus service while both heavy and light railway systems had only 25 people got injured. The lowest number of injuries was nearly the same as that of commuter rail, showing at 20 PMT.

To sum up, the accidents and injuries resulted in public transport service had lower figures than the private demand-responsive transportation in 2002.
