The chart below shows the percentage change in the share of international students among university graduates in different Canadian provinces between 2001 and 2006.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph illustrates the change in the proportion of international graduates from universities in 8 provinces in Canada over a 5-year period (between 2001 and 2006).

Overall, the percentage of international graduates from those Canadian provinces in 2006 was significantly higher than that in 2001.

Initially in 2001, compared to other provinces, universities in New Brunswick had the largest number of international graduates, about 7%. Those percentages in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Alberta were just over 5%. In the meantime, the shares in the other provinces were less than 5%, involving British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Ontario in the descending order.

In 2006, as aforementioned, there was a dramatic increase in the number of international students who graduated from those universities. The biggest increase took place in British Columbia where the percentage of graduates doubled. New Brunswick’s percentage noticeably rose from 7% to just under 12%, which helped this province remain its first rank. Nova Scotia, Quebec, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Ontario also experienced a considerable growth of around 3%. In contrast, Alberta witnessed a slight drop of less than 2% in the proportion of graduates over this 5-year period.
