The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the duration of the telephone calls by three call types in the UK during the period of 1995-2002.

It is clear that the local fixed line was the most popular phone conversation throughout the period. The time spent on local fixed line increased gradually from 72 billion minutes in 1995 to the peak of 90 billion minutes in 1995, following that the time spent on local fixed line decreased steadily and dropped back to the 1995 figures.

Meanwhile, both call duration of national and international fixed line and mobiles increased from 1995 to 2002. In 1995, the mobiles call was much more unpopular than other type of phone calls, with only 3 billion minutes of call duration. The total time spent on mobiles, however, increased by 4 times during the period. In particular, the rise from 1999 to 2002 was noticeable. In contrast, the usage of national and international fixed line grew steadily from 38 billion to 61 billion minutes at the end of period.

Overall, the local-fixed line remained the dominant type of phone call. While the usage of mobiles increased dramatically in these years, there was still a considerable difference between the time spent on mobiles and local fixed line.
