The charts illustrate the explanation as to why US residents travelled and the main problems which they experienced while travelling in 2009.

It is clear that the majority of Americans travelled to commute to and from work in 2009. Meanwhile, US people’s most common concern while travel public was the price of travelling.

As regards the reasons for travelling, 49% of those surveyed travelled for the purpose of commuting to and from work, while the figures for Americans’ trips for personal reasons or to go shopping were 19% and 16% respectively. Moreover, there are no significant differences in the rate of those who travelled for social or recreation rationale and to visit friend/relatives, at a mere 10% and 6%, corresponding.

Turning to the bar graph, in 2009, the price was the main issue that 36% of UK persons concerned. Nearly one out of five individuals cited safety concerns as their answers while the rate of American travellers agitating for aggressive drivers was 17%. In the same year, 14% of persons chose highway congestion to be the most important travel problem. Finally, the percentages of those survey answered access to public transport and space for pedestrians were around 7% each.
