The diagrams below show the development of the horse over a period of 40 million years.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant

The given diagram depicts the developmental process of a horse in a forty million years worth journey by judging the structure of the hooves.

It seems the hooves of horse have gone through four type of changes which deciphers the actual evolution of the animal. Initially, the animal was a short and goat like in structure with four toes which was called Eohippus.

Next, the Mesohippus, had one of its hooves disappeared and the middle toe had been enlarged slightly. The body looked similar to a donkey with small amount of mane on the back.

After the third change, the creature, Merychippus, began to look somewhat similar to what we know as modern horse. However, there no changes in the foot structure except the foot size had slightly increased.

Finally modern horse was evolved with horse-like hooves and long mane on the back. The two side toes were completely gone and the middle toe change into four parts which supported the horse in running.
