The line graph indicates the changes in fertility rates of China and the USA from 1920 to 2000.

Overall, the birth rates of both countries decreased over the period of 80 years. Although the two trends were similar in terms of a general decline, China’s birth rates in most years was lower in comparison with that in the USA.

In the 1920-2930 period, China’s birth rates was fluctuated wildly from 10 percent in 1920 to 15 percent in 1935. Then, the trend made a sharp fall to approximately between 1935 and 1945 and rocketed to the highest point which was 20 percent in 1950. Ultimately, fertility in China brought a gradual decrease from 1950 onward.

Over the same period, there was a significant vary in birthrate of the USA between 1920 and 1940, followed by a steep drop below 5 percent in 1945. By constract, the birth rates rapidly rised to around 15 percent in 1950 before a steady plunge.
