the graph below shows trends in U.S meat and poultry consumption

The line graph compares the figure for meat and poultry consumption per capita in the U.S from the year 1955 to 2012.

At first sight, beef was the most popular type of meat over nearly 60 years and the number of broilers used rose significantly. However, there was no change considerably for pork and turkey product.

In 1955s, there were only two types of meat: beef, with a little higher in consumption per person than pork, around 55 pounds, and 50 pounds respectively. Six years later, less common than meat, poultry meat was estimated 5 pounds of turkey and 15 pounds of broilers on an individual.

In the next point of time, in 1976s, the amount of beef consumption rose nearly twice and reached a peak of 90 pounds, then dived rapidly in the following years to 50 pounds. The amount of using broilers rose five times, got 60 pounds for an individual in 2006 and eventually kept stable in the years later. Opposit to beef consumption, the use of turkey took the lowest rate although a slight increase to 10 pounds but not made a considerable difference. The last one, the figure of pork using per capita fluctuated between 40 pounds to 50 pounds over the same period time.
