The graph below shows trends in US meat and poultry consumption

The line graph demonstrates the tendency of consuming meat and poultry per capital in the US between 1955 and 2012.
It is clearly seen that the amount of beef experienced a significant fluctuation and it was also the most consumed product over a course of 57 years, starting from 1955, whereas the amount of pork remained unchanged. By contrast, a considerably rise was seen in the use of broilers and turkey from 1955 to 2012.
In 1955, the consumption of beef by the US started at approximately 60 pounds, and went up gradually to reach a peak of 90 pounds in the 1976s. This figures was significant fell to 50 pounds for the rest of the period. In contrast, the intake of pork almost had no change with nearly 40 pounds per person.
Turkey consumption witnessed a stabilization 10 pounds in 2012, while the amount of broilers consumed by US citizens underwent a dramatic increased to nearly 60 pounds, and overtook beef consumption to become the highest in the last year of the period.
