The line graph illustrates the number of marriages and divorces in the UK over a period of 25 years from 1975 to 2000. Overall, the number of total marriages and divorces seems to increased over time, while the number of 1st marriages lightly decreased.
There were almost 500,000 marriages in 1975, the number has increased sharply to 650,000 in 1985. Despite the declination in 1995, it started to rose back 5 years after. In contrast, the number of first marriages has steadily grown up from 350,000 to 400,000 in the first 10 years, but decreased harshly to 300,000 in the next 20 years.
However, whereas the number for 2nd marriages stood at about 150,000 in 1975, it took a huge leap up to about 260,000 in 2000. The same as the number of divorces, it was almost 100,000 in 1975 and got up to 250,000 25 years after.
