The line graph illustrates the changing patterns in the proportion of cars stolen in Great Britain, Sweden, France and Canada over the course of 9 years starting in 1990.

Looking at the graph, it is immediately evident that the car theft figures in Great Britain and France saw an increase before falling in 1999. While the rate of car theft in Sweden witnessed an upward trend, a progressive decline was seen in the car theft figures in Canada. At the end of the surveyed period, car stolen in Great Britain registered the highest proportion out of four countries examined.

In 1990, the number of car were stolen in Great Britain was about 17%. This figure climbed to approximately 20% by between 1990 and 1996 before dropping to 16% by 1999. A similar pattern was seen in France where car theft rates rose from 6% to about 7% between 1990 and 1995 before decreasing to 5% by the end of the period.

At the beginning of the period, the car theft figure in Sweden was only shy of nearly 9%. This figure resurged to about 14%, an increase of 5% in 9 years. Contrary to this, the figure in Canada gradually dwindled from about 6% to 5% afterwards.
