The percentage of people using various mobile phone features
The table compares the proportion of people in terms of different cell phone functions in the year 2006, 2008 and 2010.
It is noticeable that technologists provided consumers more innovative features of handsets as the time went by. However, it is obvious that making calls was still the main role of mobile phones throughout the years.
We can see that everyone used cell phones to call in 2006 and 2008, compared to relatively lesser percentage of 99% of people in 2010. The proportion of users who captured photos with their mobile phones were steadily increasing through this period of time from 66% in 2006 to 76% in 2010. While the percentage of cell phones owners using text messages remained stable, there were significant rises in the use of Internet browsing.
Similarly, video recording was not utilized in 2006, but became more popular since 2008, at 9%, compared to 35% in 2010. Playing music saw a small increase from 12% in 2006 to 26% in 2010, whereas there was a fluctuation of proportion of people who enjoyed playing games with their handsets.
