The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The two charts illustrates major causes of land degradation in some period of 1990s. It depicts comparison where any of these reasons are exist.

Overall, the percentage of degraded territory by all causes in European countries outnumbered those other two regions by a significant margin. While both over-grazing and deforestation were relatively similar and continued being the main causes why agricultural land becomes less productive, much of the land degraded by over-grazing.

With regards to pie chart, whereas 35% of main reasons came from overgrazing, 30% of global causes of land degradation came from disboscation. For over-cultivation, the percentage was smaller, but also considerable - 28%.

The biggest percentage of land, that suffered from degradation, is in Europe, that reached approximately 23% due to the major problem of deforestation at 9,8% of all land; meanwhile, Oceania has 13% of total land degraded, mostly due to 11.3% of over-grazing in this country. Whilts other region have a lot of causes, North America do not have serious problems with ground suffering. The most essential cause of land degradation in large islands in the South Pacific is over-cultivation at close to 3.3%.
