The table and chart below show the domestic water use and cost in 5 countries

The bar chart and table compare weekly household consumption of water, measured in liter in person, and the rates of water charges per cubic meter in five different countries
Overall, Americans and Italians use the most water on a weekly basis, which is probably because of the lowest costs of water in these countries
As regards water usage, each American consumes 380 liters a week on average, which doubles the figure for a British. An Italian individual uses the second largest volume of water around 330 liters per week, 100 liters more than the domestic use of the German. With only about 140 liters per person per week, France is recorded as the country with the lowest household water consumption among the five countries
As far as the cost of water is concerned, being priced at 2.15 US dollars per cubit meter, water is the most expensive on Germany, costing nearly one dollar more than the second-placed price in France and over six times the figure for Italy with 0.35 US dollar for each cubic meter - the cheapest price on the table. Each US citizen has to pay 0.45 dollar for one cubic meter, compared to a much higher price with 0.7 dollar in the UK
