Afterward, it started to gradually decrease from 1900 to 1930 and by 1930, it gained 35 per thousand. By stark contrast, In the next duration at that time to 1940, it increased by somewhere in the vicinity of 52 per thousand. From 1940 to 1970, it continuously declined and got some 32 per thousand by 1970 which was worse than the death rate.
