Dear Sir,

Recently, I have heard the news that municipal council is considering to demolish the Asiatic library building on North Road, Churchgate due lack of funds to maintain and renovate it. I am writing this letter to express my grievance and wish to suggest some creative ideas on raising funds for renovations.

The Asiatic library is 275 years old building built by British when they colonised India. this building now holds around 25000 manuscripts that predates 2000 B.C and also houses books sourced on various topics from around the world. this a functional library and is considered a warehouse, which provides an academician an extensive source of knowledge. I understand the building is in dilapidated and needs massive repair works. One way to restore the library building from its current state is raising awareness among the citizens about such historical heritage which the city owns and conduct paid tours. also, council could host charity drives, whereby popular and industry stalwarts people could offer patronage for such restoration program.

I hope the above suggestion may be useful and could be considered for repairing the building.

Yours’ sincerely

Rebecca Clark
