Hi Jack,

I am writing in response to your request about what has happened in Kazakhstan over the last two weeks. Honestly, there is nothing special in terms of politics, but my country has a problem with its economic condition.

Two days ago, the national bank both hiked the rate and devaluated the currency. They said that it was impossible to keep it low any longer, but I do not believe them. As a result, dollar now costs more than 388 tenge, though a month ago it was approximately 150. This has already affected many citizens, because they store their savings as well as obtained their salary in the national currency. Besides, numerous people cannot leave tourists destinations, such as Turkey and England, since they do not have enough money to buy recalculated tickets according to the new exchange rate.

This difficulty has also a detrimental impact on my financial situation, as like many million of residents I get my wage in tenge. Furthermore, the prices for traditional products have increased by 50%, which is unusual for Karaganda Moreover, although two weeks ago my savings was sufficient to purchase a house of my dream, now I cannot afford it, because sellers have doubled prices.

Now it is my turn to ask you about major news in the USA. I am looking forward to your reply.

Best wishes,

Tolegen
