Chaco Structure

Essay topics:

Chaco Structure

The article states that archaeologists have been trying to determine the usage of a great building in New Mexico and explains three competing theory about that. The Professor explains that none of the theories is convincing and refutes each of the mentioned theories in the article.
The first theory state that the Chaco structures were purely residential. The professor refutes this point. He states that the outside of building is like apartment but inside of it is not. The professor says that the residential building need many fire places but in Chaco there are only few fire places. Considering the size of houses which have 10 fire places, they can not be sufficient for housing hundreds of people.
The second theory claims that Chaco structures were used to store food. However, the professor explains that this theory is not supported by evidence. He says that according to excavation finding there is no remarkable evidence about crops such as grain maize to support this theory.
The third theory claims that houses were used as ceremonial centers. The professors says that this theory isn't supported too. He explains that large quantity of trash of materials are related to building activities and the evidences regarded to meals are the wastes of construction workers.
